Mushroom Based Anti Agers for Revitalizing Skin

Mushrooms are known for their healing properties, so it’s not surprising that they contain powerful skin care ingredients. While well-known species such as Shiitake and White mushrooms have soothing properties for the skin, it is the snow mushroom (Tremella fuciformis) that occupies the crown in terms of deep hydration and anti-aging care. Packed with polysaccharides to promote collagen production and polyphenols to control free radicals, snow mushroom is a boon for the skin, which is showing signs of dullness, roughness and sagging, skin conditions that I am currently facing.

In recent years, my skin care goals have changed significantly, as skin aging has become a more urgent problem. I’m not completely worried about relieving my breakouts anymore. Instead, I was looking for products that could revitalize my aging skin without making it worse. This turned out to be more difficult than I thought, because my sensitive skin often reacted badly with powerful ingredients, causing redness and irritation.

Enter the new K-Beauty Powerhouse mushroom collagen range that I just got out of, which consists of the mushroom collagen ampoule and cream. Filled with natural ingredients such as snow mushroom extract and Skin protectors such as niacinamide and adenosine, the items in the fungal collagen range promise to revive the skin with a gentle touch. In short, it perfectly suits my skin care needs. As my absolute favorites of this K-Beauty brand are the rice tonic (see my review here) and the beetroot cleansing mask (see my review here), I hope the blister and the mushroom collagen cream work well.

Will this Duo give my skin the anti-aging boosters it so badly needs? Keep reading to find out!

Mushroom Collagen Ampoule

The Product: Formulated with 20% snow mushroom extract (an ingredient packed with vegan collagen, antioxidants and vitamins), this ampoule promises to treat everything from hyperpigmentation to loss of skin elasticity. Other heroic ingredients include squalane to lighten the skin, macadamia seed oil to boost hydration levels and niacinamide to boost skin radiance. This dermatologically tested product has no fragrance and is suitable for different skin types, including sensitive skin.

Key ingredients: 20% snow mushroom extract, glycerin, niacinamide, adenosine, macadamia seed oil, prairie moss seed oil, soluble collagen, squalane, ceramide NP

My Opinion: I like the way this blister gives my skin a subtle lift, without irritation. Fortunately, there was not the tingling sensation that I associated with the anti-aging serums and blisters, no doubt due to the ingredient list of the fungal collagen blister, which is full of natural ingredients. After two weeks of use, I noticed subtle improvements in my complexion and texture, from a softer and shinier appearance to a slightly more bouncy touch.

Since this product is lightweight for an anti-aging blister, the results were encouraging rather than pronounced. If you are looking for a smooth skin, this formula will satisfy your needs. However, if you want to achieve a glow, you will probably have to combine this bulb with more effective products, such as a fabric mask that is too moisturizing or an anti-aging essence.

Mushroom Collagen Cream

The Product: With 30% snow mushroom extract, known for its excellent moisture-retaining capabilities, this high-performance cream promises to revive and deeply moisturize dry skin. It is also a must-have for anyone experiencing the first signs of aging, thanks to the cocktail of polyphenols, antioxidants and vitamins commonly found in snow mushrooms, the main ingredient of this product. The formula contains niacinamide to increase the luminosity of the skin, as well as adenosine and ceramide NP for a smooth finish.

My Review: As one of the best balanced Korean skincare products I’ve tried, this moisturizer met all of my hydration goals – and more. In addition to providing a smoother, pinkier and visibly plumper finish, the cream also provided a rich, indulgent texture that didn’t clog my pores. Although moisturizing has never been my favorite part of a skincare regimen – I prefer the joy of spraying mist on my face or applying serum to dry skin – this cream made me feel so good that I started consuming it more often. This is not to say that the formula provided a wonderful glow in record time, but it left subtle but significant improvements on my dull complexion, so I was more than satisfied.
